Background

Severn Trent were upgrading the waste network in Walsall Wood, by installing a new sewer pipe and pumping station at its treatment works on Green Lane. This work aimed to assist in providing a more reliable service and reduce risk of flooding to nearby roads and a local SSSI. Works involved the removal of an existing pumping station and replacement with a new one.

Scope of Works

WM Plant Hire were employed by the contractor for specialist underwater excavation works, breaking out material at the bottom of a shaft.

Solution

Our CASE CX370 22m machine was deployed to carry out the deep excavation works fitted with an underwater breaker and 2D dig system to assist with the lack of visibility during excavation operations. This machine offered the long reach required while also benefitting from fuel efficiency savings and the best emissions technology with the latest Tier 4 final engine.
