Background
These scour protection works formed part of general maintenance works for Network Rail. The scour protection scheme involved restoration of a railway bridge in Ambergate.
Scope of Works
The scour protection scheme involved placing a silt curtain around the bridge structure, digging the riverbed to formation level, installing the 500-700mm rock armour and then restoring the sediment on top of the rock armour to the appropriate levels.
Solution
Our CASE CX75 long reach excavator on a rock barge was used to carry out all the works around the 3 bridge piers. This small versatile machine was ideal to carry out all operations required within the access restrictions of the site.
