Using the 65 tonne CAT long reach excavator fitted with GPS underwater dig profile equipment, the bridge foundations have to be cut into the rock. Underwater breakers and milling machines have been attached to the machine with the position monitored by the operator in the cab. With a strong tidal current and some extreme weather conditions, this is a really challenging and rewarding project.
